“Engaging the 7 Billion”: Speakers and info about our @EdelmanDigital #Mobile panel at #SMWLDN

Facebook has 800 million users. Social media reaches 1.2 billion people. But what is the only medium connecting 80% of the world population today?

Here at Edelman, we have been working with global brands for years to make social and digital media a central part of their marketing and communications strategy. Now that half of Facebook and Twitter interaction happens on mobile devices, and mobile penetration is five times that of social media, it’s time to take a closer look at how Mobile can be used to evolve the conversation between consumers and brands.

“Engaging the 7 Billion” looks beyond our obsession with Facebook, Twitter and smartphones to a world in which mobile phones are able to connect brands with the 7 billion people that walk this earth. From SMS to BBM, from two-screen experiences to mobile payments, this session is about connecting the dots between feature phones, smartphones and social networks to uncover a path towards global communication and marketing solutions.

I am very excited to explore the opportunities of mobile technology with a panel of thought leaders and leading innovators in the space.
