We have a lot to be grateful to the Dutch for. They’re the nation that brought us bazookas and coleslaw, gherkins, pickles and waffles. And all that poppycock and frolics with singing and dancing, clog-wearing mice who live in windmills. Tulips and gouda cheese. I could go on, but this December I’m most grateful to them for bringing us lucky citizens of this great capital, HEMA – ‘a cross between IKEA, Muji and Woolworths’ – as a pop up at KK Outlet until December 22. Better still, Sinterklaas himself will be at the opening, the Dutch Santa Claus, and you’ll get to pretend you’re Dutch by leaving a spare shoe in the gallery overnight for him to fill with presents and chocolate letters.
